About The Dykeverse

Our Mission Statement

The Dykeverse is a lesbian-centered organization by and for lesbians, sapphics, dykes, trans girls and guys, bisexuals, nonbinary queers, women who love women, and everyone else who finds themselves under the lesbian umbrella.

We aim to create a diverse space that cultivates connections by: listening to our community members, addressing concerns when they arise; hosting, organizing, and intentionally creating safe opportunities for queer people to gather and feel welcome; and being a platform for mutual and community aid, so that the most vulnerable among us are uplifted.

Many of us have felt the sting of exclusion; there should be no reason anyone in a queer space should feel unsafe. The Dykeverse is where we and all of our lovers and allies feel welcome and safe, regardless of their identity.

Who We Are

The Dykeverse Board is made up of lesbians and other members of the queer sapphic spectrum who value inclusivity, diversity, and intersectionality. We are varied in skin color and sexuality, but what bonds us is our love for lesbians and yearning for a space where we can express ourselves freely. We prioritize safety and community and do not stand for hatred or bigotry. We are:

• Anti-AI, and vow to never knowingly use AI in our organization.
• Pro-abortion and the right to bodily autonomy.
• Anti-ICE and pro-immigration. Open borders!
• Anti-racist. All Black Lives Matter.
• Intersectional feminists.
• Abolitionists.
• Anti-capitalists.
• Leftists.
• Pro-Queer and Trans rights.
• Pro-disability and accessibility.
• Pro-freedom of religion.
• For a Free Palestine and Congo.
• Always open to education on issues we may be unaware of or need to platform.

Transparency

We believe that transparency is the backbone of a community’s trust in its organization. We vow to be transparent on:

• Finances. We will always share our financial goals and fundraising progress, and vow to be held accountable for funds. Proceeds from events will be shared with the community, whether through a mutual aid network or donation to local organization, and this process will be documented and shared.
• Mutual aid. We will look to our network for opportunities to provide direct aid to community members whenever possible, and will share – though anonymized for safety – when funds are distributed.
• Capacity and ability. We never expect or want any of our community members to overextend themselves; we will be transparent about our capacity, and we will respect a no.
• Conflict and abuse. Healthy conflict is inevitable in a community space; disagreements are expected and welcome, when all parties involved are engaged in good faith. Abusers, however, are not welcome and will be shunned from our community. We are pro-victim and will always listen to our community members.
